The AMD Virtex™ 7 FPGA is subdivided into three main sub-series—Standard Virtex-7, High-Performance Virtex-7 XT, and High-Bandwidth Virtex-7 HT—based on resource configuration, transceiver types and application scenarios. The models within each series are distinctly differentiated, enabling design solutions that meet varying requirements for computing power, bandwidth and pin count.

It features upgraded GTH 13.1 Gb/s high-speed transceivers, significantly enhancing serial communication bandwidth, and is paired with additional DSP processing resources. Designed specifically for high-speed networking, data centres, wireless communications and ASIC prototyping, it is currently the most widely used Virtex-7 sub-series on the market.

It features an optimised transceiver architecture and bandwidth configuration, designed specifically for extreme performance requirements such as 100G+ high-speed networks, optical communications and high-end radar systems.
